Walt Lindblom is a 35+ year veteran of the television business. He has shot almost every sport imaginable, from the World Championship Domino Tournament, to football, basketball, hockey, running, and car and motorcycle racing. He currently designs video systems for NASA and shoots shuttle launches. He has been an avid still photographer for close to 40 years. 2010 was his first year to attend the National Championship Air Races, shooting video and stills both at PRS in June and the races in September.
"It was the thrill of a lifetime for me. I have been following NCAR since 1967, but this was the first time I have been able to attend. It was even better than I expected. To get a chance to shoot the video and photographs at the same time made it that much better," said Walt.
Mark Chiolis was born to fly, starting flying lessons at age 12, soloing at 16 and getting his pilot’s license on his 17th birthday. Combine that with a love of photography and video and you’ve got a passion to produce aviation disks. Mark was a key cinematographer for the SkyFire group, which produced the official Reno Air Race videos, from 1990 through 2000 and recently decided it was time to once again experience and capture all the thrills, sights and sounds that happen during the races.
“Getting back into the swing of shooting those fantastic planes was a dream come true and I hope that what you experience while watching the videos captures all the excitement that I had while shooting them. There’s nothing like the sound of a Merlin or radial engine roaring overhead at 75 feet while filming out at the pylons, or hearing the roar of the T-6’s as they fight it out for 1st place during the race, or seeing the jets moving smoothly through the air at 500+ miles per hour. Where else will you experience all the sights and sounds like this? Nowhere else, and we’ve been able to capture it in true high definition and bring it all home for you,” said Mark.
